Value Investing in a Bear Market
Believe it or not, but there are certain investors that are actually enjoying the panic-inducing crash in the stock market. No, we’re not talking about short sellers. We’re talking about value investors, who haven’t had much to buy in the last few years with valuations at a skyhigh level.
Now, P/E ratios are dropping and value investors, in the spririt of Warren Buffet, are getting excited. Value investors don’t let the market’s fear (or greed) affect their opinions. They let the numbers speak for themselves to make their stock picks.
At the end of the day, there’s no point in trying to time the bottom of the market. It can’t be done. Over the long-term, the market is on an upwards trend and that’s the attitude you have to take: a long-term approach to investing.

A very volatile session once again, but there was a powerful rally at the end of the session. Granted, you can’t trust rallies until the moving average starts heading higher. Leave your opinions at the door - the only reason to buy is when price action tells you to. All this volatility is offering fantastic trading opportunities, but be careful. There is a more neutral market for gold, so that’s something to keep an eye on. Oil was down to new lows but the trend is still lower. Again, listen to price action. It’s going to take a while for the confidence in the financial system to heal. Don’t succumb to greed. Greed is what caused the entire mess in the first place.

Short sellers are actually being blamed for much of the turbulence in the market. That said, if you think the short sellers are over-manipulating things, you should probably go long with the belief that it all balances out in the long run.
Or just stay liquid.
